Three weeks ago we began Pieday Friday with a Muzzas Pie from, Muzzas Pies. Which before I get too side tracked was a Steak and Kidney of very reasonable quality, great filling generous quantities of steak and kidney, good gravy not to gelatinous- and a reasonable crust 7/10.
To give some context anyone who has ever worked in a small office will know that on occasion the lunch of ones co-workers can often become a subject general interest- especially when said lunch smells and/or looks much tastier than your own. It was a just such a coverting of thy co-workers lunch that inspired the first Pieday Friday. Having run out of bread one day I had swung by the Wildwheat bakery on Mt Eden Rd and picked up a mince and cheese potato top pie. Come lunch time, my fellow employees smelling the deliciousness spontaneously concocted the idea that a pies where too good to not be shared and enjoyed by all, and it was agreed that maybe Friday would be a good day on which we could all enjoy a pie day.
This blog has been inspired by my own epic search for a decent pie and to help other people who like pies find where they can get them, as well generally to share my appreciation for greatness of good food but pies in particular.
